Earthquakes shake the structure in the lateral and vertical
direction.
The lateral force applied is proportional to the mass of structure and
the ground acceleration. The earthquake induced forces are dissipated by
damage of structural elements. Structures may or may not collapse but
mostly become unfit for general use and will need evacuation for repair.
The losses due to these downtime are significant. Moreover, in hospital
buildings where the cost of acceleration sensitive non-structural
elements are much higher than the structure cost itself, again the
losses are enormous.
Seismic base isolation technology decouples the structure from
earthquake shaking using an appropriate isolation system. With our wide
range options available, the acceleration imparted to the structure is
significantly less thereby protecting not only the non-structural
elements but also keeping the structure in the continued operations
mode. We provide the design and supply of isolating the essential
services which are lift, staircase, pipelines, conduits to achieve an
undisrupted building functioning.
